Indonesia Ditipu Jepang: Kijang Innova Akan Dipasok dari India?

Dari semua produk line up PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Kijang, Avanza, Rush, dan Fortuner yang diproduksi di Indonesia. Bahkan Kijang dikenal sebagai mobil kebanggan keluarga Indonesia, ketika pertama kali di release pada 1977 masih berupa pikap dan kini menjadi multi purpose vehicle (MPV) berkelas, konon tidak lagi diproduksi di dalam negeri. Malah akan diimpor dari luar.

Hal itu mungkin saja, mengingat adanya perjanjian perdagangan bebas (free trade area/FTA) antara negara di kawasan Asean dengan India yang telah ditandatangani 13 Agustus 2009 lalu. Isinya, di antaranya adanya penurunan tarif impor produk (impor duty) untuk beberapa produk hingga nol persen berlaku antara 2013 hingga 2016. Salah satunya, otomotif.

Imbasnya, mulai tumbuh wacana kemungkinan Kijang Innova akan dipasok dari India untuk pasar Indonesia. Hal ini diutarakan Wakil Presiden Direktur TAM Shinji Fujii saat bincang-bincangnya bersama KOMPAS.com, akhir pekan lalu. "Ini baru kemungkinan. Tapi kami akan berjuang mati-matian karena Kijang Innova merupakan produk kami dan asli dari Indonesia bukan dari negara lain," ujarnya.

Shinji menjelaskan, FTA akan menciptakan akses yang mudah untuk masuk atau keluarnya barang dari kedua belah pihak. Perhitungan ongkos produksi akan dihitung oleh prinsipal, dan melihat mana yang lebih ekonomis.

Saat ini, pihak Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd--semacam TAM di Indonesia--telah memproduksi Fortuner dan Innova untuk dipasarkan di India. Produksinya untuk midsize MVP ini menggunakan komponen lokal (dari India) hingga 90 persen.

Saat FTA kedua negara sudah efektif, lanjut Shinji, ada kemungkinan India akan mengimpor kendaraan berukuran mini yang memang direncanakan bakal diproduksi di Negeri Sari ini. Nah, mobil ini juga rencananya akan memperoleh pasokan unit dapurpacunya dari Indonesia.

"Mungkin saja, karena sudah tidak ada lagi hambatan pajak maka kita bisa impor mesin ke sana, dan kita mengimpor mobil mini itu ke sini, possibility yes. Tapi belum ada kepastian." lanjutnya.

Terkait kinerja ekspor Toyota, Shinji memprediksi, pengiriman mobil Toyota ke luar Indonesia tak akan terpengaruh menyusul adanya kesepakatan FTA Asean-India. Pasalnya, India bukan merupakan negara tujuan ekspor Toyota Indonesia.

Saat ini, sejumlah produk Toyota diekspor secara utuh (completely built up/CBU) ke beberapa negara seperti Thailand, Brunei, dan Timur Tengah sekitar 2.000 unit per bulan. Sementara untuk ekspor dalam bentuk terurai (completely knock down/CKD) ke beberapa negara antara lain Vietnam dan Filipina dengan total sekitar 4.000 unit per bulan. Produk yang menjadi andalan eskpor Toyota Indonesia adalah Innova, Fortuner, dan Avanza.

Maruti Suzuki launches new Estilo sans Zen prefix

Indo-Japanese car maker Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday launched a new petrol version of its hatchback Estilo, priced between Rs 3.12 lakh and Rs 3.95 lakh at showrooms in the national capital. The group also dropped the car's "Zen" prefix.

According to Maruti, Estilo has established itself as a brand and did not need the crutches of "Zen" to its name.

"Estilo is a brand in itself and is very different from the Estilo we launched in 2006 or the Zen in 1993," said Mayank Pareek, Maruti's managing executive officer in-charge of marketing and sales.

The new model is equipped with a 998 cc, three-cylinder petrol engine. According to the company, it is not only more powerful compared with the earlier version but also better in terms of fuel-efficiency, besides being compliant with the latest emission norms.

The hatchback will be manufactured at the Gurgaon plant where the company's "A-Star" and "Ritz" models are produced, Shinzo Nakanishi, managing director and chief executive of the carmaker, said at a glittering event in New Delhi.

"The car delivers a superior fuel efficiency of 18.2 km per litre," Nakanishi said. The event included a ballet dance, performance by a gynmnasts' group and a percussion recital by a set of three drummeRs

The company plans to invest Rs 1,000-Rs 1,500 crore to build its first research and development centre in the country, to be built over 700 acres in Rohtak in Haryana. The land was handed over to the company last week.

The new Estilo is available in eight colours, including four new ones - ecru beige, emerald Blue, dusky brown and quantum orange - apart from the existing silky silver, superior white, bright red and midnight black.

The company expects to sell about 3,000-4,000 units of this new model per month.

Though the older version is also being sold almost the same number of units, "incremental increase in sales is expected after this new launch," Nakanishi said.

Maruti is also confident that the company will come out of its financial woes in the upcoming festival season as sales are expected to shoot up.

"Last year was a disaster, but we expect better sales this year," Nakanishi said.

On exports targets, Nakanishi said Maruti was planning to sell 100,000 units of its small car A-Star in the overseas markets.

It has set a total exports target of 120,000 units for the current fiscal.

The company's signature model "Maruti-800" will be available only in tier-II cities once the emission norms are implemented from April 2010.

ATLANTA – August 26, 2009 – Stronger, wider, faster – Porsche’s new 911 GT3 Cup car is the latest-edition of the world’s best-selling and most successful production-based race car of more than 1,400 units. It will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show September 17-27, 2009, along side the previously-announced 2010 911 Turbo and 911 GT3 RS.

For the first time, the race car is based on the street-legal 2010 GT3 RS version. However, in keeping with tradition, it continues to be assembled on the same production line as all road-going Porsche 911 vehicles in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.

Like the flat-six “Boxer” engine in the new GT3 RS, displacement is increased by 0.2 liters over the former model to 3.8 liters and produces 30 more horsepower – 450 hp with a maximum RPM of 8,500. Additionally, it comes with a standard, sequential six-speed manual gearbox and weighs 2,646 lbs (1,200 kg).

New Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Race Car To Debut In Frankfurt

Also like the 911 GT3 RS, the GT3 Cup car features the 1.73-inch wider body of the current 911 Carrera 4S, providing sufficient space for larger wheels. Wider front wheel arches allow for three-piece light-alloy rims measuring 9.5 J x 18 (previously 9 J x 18) utilizing 24/64-18 Michelin racing tires. The three-piece light-alloy wheels on the rear axle are up by one inch in width, now measuring 12 J x 18 with 27/68-18 tires.

The new 911 GT3 Cup is clearly recognizable at first sight through the special design of the front end. The striking daytime driving lights come straight from the current generation 911. Another carryover from the road-going 911 GT3 RS are the front body panels – as they prove aerodynamically-efficient for racing duty. The front spoiler lip is more than 0.5-inches lower to provide significantly more downforce on the front axle.

Downforce on the rear axle is also increased by the by virtue of a rear wing that is over 9-inches wider than the street version, 66.9 inches vs. 57.5 inches respectively. The rear air dam, with its air vent openings as well as the rear LED lights, also come straight from the road model.

Additional Unibal joints are featured on the track control arms and the front and rear anti-roll bars are now adjustable to seven different positions, allowing for an even more precise set-up of the car to best match each prospective race track.

The cockpit of the new 911 GT3 Cup caters even more to the specific needs of the driver. An additional vent in the upper part of the front lid, for example, provides the driver with a better supply of fresh air. The controls for the Info Display are now positioned directly on the steering wheel housing. And in addition to fore-and-aft adjustment, the steering wheel may now also be adjusted for height as on the regular production car.
