amazing Wimmer RS Turns VW Golf R into 478HP Red Devil
Red Devil is the name German tuning firm 'Wimmer RS' chose for its latest take on these of the color chosen for the car, and 'Devil' because this Golf R packs a sinister punch under the hood...
In stock form, the all-wheel drive Golf R rolls out of VW's factory with a 2.0-liter TFSI producing 270-hp and 350Nm / 258 lbs-ft of maximum torque. After Wimmer RS's engineers perform their magic, those numbers increase to a whopping 478-hp and 610Nm or 450 lbs-ft.
The extra power comes from a variety of mods including -but not limited to- changes to the turbocharger, ECU, air intake, injection nozzles and exhaust system.
According to the tuning house, the upgraded Golf R can reach an electronically limited top speed of 291 km/h or 181 mph.
Additional performance enhancements include a coil-over suspension set and more potent braking system.
The German tuner did not release info on pricing.
First Publicly Available 2011 Camaro Convertible Fetches $205,000
The promise of being the owner of the first available production version of the yet-to-be-released was more than enough to make an unnamed collector drop $205,000 for the car at last weekend's Barrett-Jackson Auction. But at least the sale was for a good cause as 100 per cent of proceeds from the winning bid will go to the YMCA of Southern Nevada.
The car shown at the auction was the Camaro Convertible Concept. The actual production model seen in the teaser shots we added in the gallery below is scheduled to make its world premiere later this fall -most likely at the LA Auto Show- and go on sale across the States early next year.
General Motors said that for historical purposes, it will keep the first production example of the 2011 Camaro Convertible.
The best Lamborghini Indomable Study Merges Gallardo and F-22 Fighter Into One
At the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan, design students Daniel Chinchilla Ochoa and Alberto Fernandez Albilares prepared this called the Indomable.
Under the supervision of Filipo Perini, head of Lamborghini Centro Stile and designer Alessandro Salvagnin, Ochoa and Albilares were tasked with creating a design study based on the existing Lamborghini Gallardo's wheelbase.
The Indomable is the result. Said to be inspired by the latest generation fighter planes such as the F-22 Raptor, it incorporates features like a Y-shaped glass engine bay cover and a taillight assembly that also acts as the rear wing.
Ochoa has had an interesting career. Having worked on everything from aftermarket aerokits for Volkswagens and Fords to designing busses for his homeland of Mexico, he then worked an internship at Lamborghini Centro Stile for 6 months after finishing his Masters at Scoula Politecnica di Design.

with its logos covered, the camouflaged minivan seen here - said by Nick to be "about the size of a Mazda 5" - appears to be wearing a Prius-esque front fascia and doesn't look to fit anywhere else in the lineup.
As you can see in our photo gallery after the jump, the minivan and the Prius also seem to share a similar design for the windshield, front window line and tail lamps.
If earlier reports from Reuters and Japan's Nikkei daily are correct, the Prius MPV will end up housing three rows of seats with space for up to seven passengers and be powered by in-house developed lithium-ion batteries (which may later be manufactured with help from Panasonic).
As we recently , Toyota Executive VP Takeshi Uchiyamada hopes to launch six new hybrids worldwide by 2012 (two Lexi and four Toyotas) on top of its current hybrid offerings. That means the Lexus hybrid family - LS, GS, HS, and RX - will likely gain another crossover of some sort and probably an IS hybrid.
New Exagon Motors' 340-horsepower Electric Furtive e-GT
Unveiled to a small group of French journalists ahead of its world premiere at this week's, is this sleek-looking coupe from Exagon Motors called the Furtive e-GT.
Somewhere beneath the Renault Laguna Coupe-like lines (or is that just me?) are two electric motors from Siemens that are backed up by a gasoline range extender.
With both electric motors working together, the Siemens-powered Furtive is looking to be a real Tesla performance contender (though probably not anywhere near the same price point).Numbers are estimated to go something like this: 3.5 seconds to 100km/h (62mph), 340 horsepower, and a 400-kilometer / ~ 249-mile electric range (800 km / ~ 497 miles all told with the gasoline mill kicking in).
Top speed, transmission, and storage capacity have yet to be announced. Hell, maybe they're explained in the video below, but Phil doesn't speak French. Regardless, those stats should appear within the week as the Paris show gets into gear.

Segway Company Owner Dies After Riding Two-Wheeler Off a Cliff...
British tycoon and owner of the company, Jimi Heseldon, has died after reportedly driving one of the firm's motorized two-wheelers off a cliff and into a river near his estate in Thorp Arch, Boston Spa, West Yorkshire, on Sunday, according to news reports.
"Police were called at 11.40am yesterday to reports of a man in the River Wharfe, apparently having fallen from the cliffs above," a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police force told reporters.
"A Segway-style vehicle was recovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time we do not believe the death to be suspicious."
The 62-year-old businessman, whose personal fortune was worth £166million earning him 395th place on this year's Sunday Times Rich List, brought the Segway from its U.S. inventor Dean Kamen in January 2010.
More Details and New Photos Released ahead of Paris Show
Being that the 2010 edition is just around the corner, Honda has released a new batch of photos as well as a few more details on its of the Jazz, which is called Fit in the U.S. and other markers.
The smallest member of Honda's gasoline-electric hybrid family features the same IMA parallel hybrid system found on the combining a 1.3 liter engine with a 10 KW electric motor. The system allows the car to operate with engine only, engine and motor or electric motor only at low to medium speeds.
In the Jazz Hybrid, the IMA battery pack and power control unit are stored under the boot floor, keeping the normal boot (above floor) area of 300 liters, while also allowing the car's so-called "Magic Seats" to fold in the same manner as the non-hybrid version to provide a boot space of 831 liters.
Honda said the new Jazz Hybrid returns a combined fuel consumption figure of 4.4 l/100km [53.5 mpg US] in the European cycle. That's the same as the Insight and faintly better than the European variants of the Civic Hybrid (4.6 lt/100km) and CR-Z 2+2 (5.0lt/100km).
However, the Jazz Hybrid has CO2 emissions of 104 g/km, which is slightly higher than the Insight's 101g/km. Honda claims this is due to the Jazz's "taller, more flexibility focused shape."
The Japanese automaker said the Jazz hybrid will go on sale in some European markets in the early part of 2011, with prices, homologated emissions levels and full specifications to be announced in "due course". Currently, there are no plans to offer the Jazz Hybrid in North America.
